The ability for anyone to change the data as well as the data structure is one of the revolutionary things about semantic wikis, he says. “They say it’s easier to use, more flexible, and easier to make changes to the data structure,” he says. In his experience, he’s heard from parties who see SMW as an alternative even to offerings such as Microsoft Sharepoint for managing data collaboratively.

“The hope is that the whole semantic Wiki concept in practice is a lot less esoteric than it sounds on paper,” Koren says.
